IP in Academia
The CryptoWorks21 program is excited to host this IP Management Lunch and Learn Lecture Series. This eighth lecture will be held on May 23rd in QNC1501 from Noon to 1pm.
It is open to all members of CryptoWorks21, the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) and the Centre for Applied Cryptographic Research (CACR). Space is limited, please RSVP to Chin Lee by May 16th.
Abstract:
- Searching the literature--using the IP databases, mechanics of searching, reviewing results, commenting on results, how to present differences and obligations to disclose results.
- What to do if you want to protect fundamental research from being restricted by patents. Members of Faculty who have published with the intent to block patent.
- What to do if you want to protect IP through patents, but, not commercialize it. Members of Faculty who have patented IP with the express purpose of providing free licenses to all.
Biography
Dr. Douglas Beynon is a seasoned entrepreneur, executive, advisor, mentor, and investor with over 35 years of senior management experience. He has restructured organizations, managed small to medium enterprises, started private and public companies, advised and mentored corporations, and secured investment funding. Dr. Beynon is experienced in collaborative activities with technology commercialization through strong ties with a post-secondary institution and local businesses.
