Terepac partners with CryptoWorks21 to grow quantum-safe cryptography training program

Terepac Corporation announced its support of research and training initiatives for CryptoWorks21 through monetary and in-kind funding equivalent to $70,000 over three years.

Terepac will provide industry mentors for students and postdoctoral fellows, industry guest speakers and other contributions that will support the broad range of training initiatives offered by CryptoWorks21, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) program committed to preparing the next-generation of cryptographic leaders.

"We are delighted by the broad range of support Terepac has generously offered the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) and the University of Waterloo in support of the CryptoWorks21 NSERC CREATE training program, which aims to prepare the necessary workforce for cybersecurity in an era with quantum computers," said Michele Mosca, Chair of CryptoWorks21 and co-founder of IQC at Waterloo.

“We are keen to help CryptoWorks21 train the cryptographers who will develop the foundations of the next generation of our security tools," commented Ric Asselstine, CEO of Terepac, the Internet of Things (IoT) solutions company based in Waterloo. "It is critical that in addition to offering our customers first-in-class security against today's threats, that we remain ahead of the curve and over time proactively evolve our systems to provide security against tomorrow's threats.”

The partnership between CryptoWorks21 and Terepac will foster collaboration between scientists and industry experts in quantum and cryptographic research and prepare IoT for the security threat posed by quantum computing.
